19th Annual Deep Winter Dreaming Lodge
Two Ceremonies on Turtle Island (our continent of North America)
As we yearn for more Ceremony together, we are blessed to announce TWO Kiva Dreaming Lodge Ceremonies on Turtle Island. One will be hosted in the Pacific Northwest (BearEagle Stands Tall, Chief), in tandem with the Dreaming Lodge in Northern Wisconsin (DancingEagle, Chief). WhiteEagle Woman continues to Chief the Dreaming Lodge in Turkey.
The Winter Moons
This is the time of the slumbering winter months where we begin with the first of the 4 Winter Moons on November 21. In our medicine, we prepare to settle into the stillness, and gradually empty ourselves of all that has transpired in order to open to the dreaming messages of what will be.
Our Deep Winter Dreaming Lodge Ceremony is the energetic complement to the powerful Sundance. It is aligned with the Wakaan, the Void of All Potential, with the Sacred Feminine. In this annual ceremony, we train ourselves to set aside our personal dreams and open to the dreams that are meant for ALL the people in the coming year. Just as the Lead Sundancers train to become the “hollow bone” for all the prayers, the Lodge dreamers train to become the hollow bone for the dreams that are needed for our collective guidance.
On Being a Lodge Dreamer
We are dreamers who prepare ourselves in a good way to keep our body clear and connected to the Earth as we become the conduits for Dream Messages.
It takes preparation to Dream for the People in the Deep Winter Dreaming Lodge, where for 36 hours, we are fasting the body, dreaming, and in a particular way, sharing aloud the dreams that come through. The dedicated commitment to participate in this series prepares each Dreamer to become one with a Circle of Dreamers. Our preparation begins November 21 and is complete about a week following the January ceremony. Before the Spring Equinox, the essence messages from all the Dreams will be shared with all who care to receive them. They may provide powerful wisdom for how we may best meet what lies ahead in the coming year.
We are calling in the Dreamers who have an inkling that their dreaming may transcend the personal and inform the collective. We are calling in those who have completed at least two years of Red Lodge training in the Delicate Lodge tradition (Art of Peace, Heart of Listening, or Council Guide Training for example) and who have demonstrated an ability to remain in Command under challenging conditions. Contact us as we may make exceptions.
On Being a Guardian of the Dreamers
Guardians play an essential role in our ceremony by supporting various areas throughout the Deep Winter Ceremony. During dreaming time, Guardians rotate shifts to assist the Dreamers by providing them with silent beauty, gently drumming them awake at the end of each round, and replenishing candles and water. They also prepare meals throughout the ceremony. Without Guardians, there is no Dreaming Lodge. The Guardians share in the same preparation process as the Dreamers, and we seek the same level of Medicine training and acumen. A high measure of loving humility and sensitivity is required. Further training will be provided.
We are calling in 4 guardians for each ceremony. Guardians may choose to waive the ceremony costs (food and lodging need to be covered) based on their giveaway.
Logistics
The dream is to hold both ceremonies in tandem. They will take place on the same weekend of Jan 2-5, 2024. Guardians will need to arrive the evening of January 1, 2024. Dreamers will arrive the evening of Thursday, January 2, in time to share a simple evening meal. Friday we’ll begin our preparation and teachings, intentionally deepening into the energies of winter until we enter the Dreaming Lodge together around sunset Friday, January 3. We’ll come out around sunrise on Sunday, January 5, when we will gently break our fast, and then string our beads. Then we’ll begin to distill dreams and disassemble our Dreaming Lodge. Dreamers and Guardians should plan to leave the venue by around 2 or 3 pm Sunday, January 5.
